Trayvon Martin was shot in Florida by a neighborhood watch volunteer.
The unresolved case of 17 year old Trayvon Martin's egregious murder at the hands of George Zimmerman has experienced a problem that could change its complexion. The unnamed girl, known in the case as Civilian Witness 8 and suspected to be Martin's girlfriend at the time, erroneously told prosecutors she was in hospital on the day of his funeral. On Tuesday (March 5th), the defense checked her medical records and discovered she was in fact not admitted in a hospital at the time of Martin's March 3rd, 2012 funeral. The unnamed Civilian Witness 8 has produced a few inconsistencies in this case. Martin family attorney, Benjamin Crump asserts that she was 16 at the time of Trayvon's murder, while prosecutors claim she was 18 and of legal adult age.

There are several cities across America that are hubs for distinct musical styles that have become a vital part of the fabric of Hip-Hop. New York City is the home of boom-bap. Los Angeles introduced America to the G-Funk. Atlanta is the center of the trap sound. Chicago produced the double-time flow.

But Houston, Texas, and its unique "chopped and screwed" production style, is one Hip-Hop headquarters that influenced an entire generation of emcees that probably hasn't received its proper due yet.

Houston rap pioneers like Scarface, Geto Boys, Bun B & PimpC of UGK, Lil Troy, K-Rhino, and DJ Screw laid the foundation for the H-Town run of the mid-2000's by Lil Flip, Slim Thug, Paul Wall, Mike Jones, and Chamillionaire.

Today, March 9th, the world of Hip-Hop celebrated the life and mourned the loss of one of Hip-Hop's most iconic figures, Notorious B.I.G. Brooklyn bred rapper Notorious B.I.G., born Christopher Wallace, was gunned down on March 9, 1997, during a drive-by shooting in front of the Petersen Automotive Museum in downtown Los Angeles, CA.
The rapper died after he was struck by four bullets that pierced the passenger side of the Chevy Suburban, in which he was a passenger. To date, his murder is still unsolved and no one has ever been arrested for the murder of Notorious B.I.G. While this anniversary marks 16 years that "Biggie" is not with us in his physical form, his music still lives on today as his catalog makes him one of the greatest selling rappers of all-time.

Amazingly, Life After Death has been certified Diamond by the CIAA and his other albums have all reached Platinum status. Rappers across the world remembered his legacy today Tweeting out their sentiments and thoughts of the iconic rapper,
"Our last night and pic together. Miss you BIG! Love u bro, "
